Description

Statue Lysippée dancer woman in the Antique Modeling Atelier Michel Caryl Provence L2610This modeling in the Antique in clay or plaster is from the Atelier Michel Caryl, everything is decorative. It is a beautifully crafted neoclassical decor. Female figure dressed in a chiton belted under the chest and which reveals the right breast. The position of the feet, the twist of the upper body and the clothing revealing its anatomy allow this figure to be interpreted as a dancing maenad. The statuette is inspired by a famous work by Lysippus, in bronze, created around 320 BC, representing the poetess Prassilla, of Sicyon, dancing and playing the flute to accompany her bacchic songs. This may be the same statue that Pliny, Natural History, XXXIV, describes as the "temulenta tibicina", the drunken aulos player. We report some wear and cracks, however everything remains in very good general condition. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the state, thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: cm Width: cm Length: cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
