Wooden stool or wooden coffee table 40 cm high and 45 cm wide in white and natural brown color. These beauties are known as Bamileke stools and come from Cameroon and are an iconic piece of furniture in Africa. They are also called African stools, king's stools, or bird's nests and were traditionally used by the Bamileke tribe for public ceremonies. Today they are also used for interior decoration and I sell them at both wholesale and retail prices. I hand carve them from a continuous piece of wood. To do this, the timber would first be thrown into the river to soften it and then the ornate web pattern would be hand carved into the hardwood. Any breaks in the wood would mean that the piece had been abandoned or this break is considered a break in the life cycle and therefore a bad omen. The intricate pattern you see in these represents the web of the earth spider, a symbol of divine wisdom. I make bamileke stools in a variety of designs and sizes, which includes.Dia 40cm X 45cm.
