These beauties are known as Bamileke stools and come from Cameroon and is an iconic piece of furniture from Africa.
They are also called African stools, king's stools, or bird nests and were traditionally used by the Bamileke tribe for public ceremonies.
Today they are also used for interior decoration and I sell them both at wholesale prices and I cut them by hand from a continuous piece of wood.
To do this, the lumber would first be thrown into the river to soften it, then the ornate web pattern would be hand carved.
hand in the hardwood Any break in the wood would mean that the piece has been abandoned or that break is considered a break in the life cycle and therefore a bad omen.
The intricate pattern you see in these represents the canvas from the spider of the t wanders, a symbol of divine wisdom.
