WATERCOLOR ON PAPER BY EUGENE BELLANGE END XIX EME ZOUAVE GOLDEN FRAME H996 Watercolor on paper by Eugène Bellangé, late nineteenth, representing a Zouave in beaded golden frame This watercolor is on paper, it was made by Eugène Bellangé, it represents a Zouave with a camp, the whole is XIXth. The watercolor is slightly discolored, the frame is re-gilded. We can read the inscription X th 70 below the signature. Note the lack of pearls on the frame, jumps, stains, wear and frictions.Sold as presented.Eugène Bellangé, born in Rouen on February 16, 1837, and died in Paris 9th on May 3, 1895, is a French painter.Eugène Bellangé is the son of the painter Hippolyte Bellangé. He was a pupil of his father and of François Édouard Picot at the École des beaux-arts in Paris. Like his father, he devoted himself to paintings of battles and military scenes, works of small dimensions, as well as genre scenes.After the war, he space his submissions to the Salon, giving up, in his last years, to exhibit To the Champs Elysees ; he was still to be seen, with old canvases, at the Salon des Indépendants; We still see him, the year of his death, at the Salon du Champ-de-Mars, with a series of studies of skulls. He had his studio at No. 57 rue de Douai, his father's former workshop.
