King Leopold II, whose name was Leopold Louis-Philippe Marie Victor of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, was born on 9 April 1835 at the Royal Palace of Brussels (in Belgium) and died on 17 December 1909 at the Castle of Laeken (in the same country), was the second King of the Belgians (from 17 December 1865 to 17 December 1909), Prince of Belgium, Duke of Saxony, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Duke of Brabant (1840-1865).
I am proud to present this superb and rare saber called '' troop '' (because of the rare markings) Belgian cavalry regiments at Montmorency. The handle is covered with black leather, fixing one rivet each, very solid, no play. Three-branched guard. The blade is curved, massive, marked ''P + crown'', + date hidden by the leather tie + ''J.H.'' and ''A 478'' on the scabbard, as well as on the attachment chain: ''DÉPOSÉ metal extra blanc''. A central fuller, very beautiful and patinated blade, in its own juice. Steel scabbard, very solid with one ring, beautiful patina. Truly a magnificent piece, recovered near Brussels, complete with its scabbard, its strap and its attachment chain. I am parting with it because it is not my field of collection, the piece is absolutely superb and I am sure that it will find a place of choice in the display case of another enthusiast of Belgian military history! A saber quite simply unique and unobtainable in any condition. A similar copy can be seen in the Royal Army Museum in Brussels, very rare!!!
It is certain that by acquiring this splendid and rare sabre of the Belgian troops, you will be in possession of a very rare witness to the history of Belgium. You will also be in possession of a beautiful blade forged by the best Belgian gunsmiths of the time, but also a souvenir of the last dynasty of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. To summarize, a magnificent and rare piece to seize absolutely
