These knives were made in Solingen, Germany, for export to Brazil. They are believed to date from 1910-1927. Made in the typical northern Brazilian style called ''Faca de Ponta'' or (pointed knife) in English. These knives were usually carried by the wealthy as a sign of prestige, although banditos (highwaymen) also liked these long and sumptuous knives. The image of the lady with the heel is probably a princess or a royal queen. Some have suggested Princess Elizabeth or perhaps Queen Wilhemina of Denmark who sometimes had ties to the German nobility. (Estimated in expertise & auction house between 650-700 euros).
