Historical background and history of the model:
A superb and rare Russian Cossack saber, nicknamed '' shashka ''. Made on the basis of the 1927 model. It equipped all mounted troops until the early 1950s, including the NKVD political police troops with the distinction of the white steel handle fittings covered with chrome. This model was also used by the '' Osttrupen '' of General Vlassov. Since 1932, the saber was worn only in service. Despite the fact that in 1940 new models were adopted for the command of the Red Army, the saber of the 1927 model continued to be used during the years of the Second World War.

I am proud to present to you this superb, rare and massive shashka saber, schaschka or chachka, from the secret police of the USSR, nicknamed the N.K.V.D., model 1927. This is the so-called troop version, with bayonet attachments on the scabbard (rare for the NKVD). The handle is made of wood and steel marked, the official approval markings of Zlatoust 1933. Marked: '' 3..3 33.. '' as well as a '' ...H 18KR '' + letter '' H '' on the scabbard and the handle. A large central fuller, very beautiful and patinated blade, in its own juice. Wooden scabbard covered with leather or painted canvas (to be checked), very solid + its mosin nagant bayonet. I am parting with it due to lack of space in my collection, the piece is absolutely superb and I am sure that it will find a place of choice in the display case of another enthusiast of Soviet military history! A saber that is simply unique and unobtainable in any condition. A similar example can be seen in the Royal Army Museum in Brussels and in the works of A.N. KULINSKI !!!
