This short sabre is the result of the reform of the Duke of Choiseul, who was Secretary of State for the War Department, and entered official service with the order of April 25, 1765. The blades are generally engraved, for example the soldier's weapon, or the King's monogram. The manufacturing was carried out at the Klingenthal bladed weapons factory, first by Maupetit, then by the entrepreneur Louis Antoine Gau de Vaumarin, then by the entrepreneur François Daniel Oesinger and finally by Jean François Perrier in 1784.
