TIGRANE ENGRAVING POLAT LANDSCAPE VIEW OF THE FARM Signature lower right of Tigrane Polat and stamp of Ste Normande engraving n°90. Tigrane Polat (or Polad), born March 23, 1874 in Alexandria and died February 17, 1950 in Charpont, is a Franco-Egyptian painter and illustrator of Armenian origin. From an Armenian father and godson of Nubar Pasha, Tigrane Polat was born in Alexandria where he was a student of the Jesuits. He arrived in France shortly before 1900 to study law and settled in Vanves. Against the advice of his father, Tigrane then entered the Académie Julian on the advice of Edgar Chahine and received the teaching of Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin-Constant, then married a young Polish woman named Justine. The couple settled in Charpont in 1910 and raised their daughter Geneviève, known as "Wanda", there. In 1926, he joined the Armenian Artistic Circle founded by Chahine. An engraver renowned for his fine lines, he illustrated nearly twenty bibliophile works, thanks to collectors such as Henri Vever and the Société de Saint-Eloy. For the condition, we note small spots of oxidation and halos, pitting, slight crease from handling, trace of folding in places, small lack, micro - tear...
