Thoroughbred bronze horse by Isidore Bonheur 19th century Brown nuanced brown patina M1565 This miniature horse represents a thoroughbred, it was made by Isidore Bonheur. Isidore Jules Bonheur (1827-1901) was a French painter and sculptor. After practicing painting, he turned to animal sculpture. He then essentially composed groups of small animals. We find in this work the paw of the artist, in the rendering of the horsehair and the musculature, the horse exudes power. The patina is sumptuous, more or less light brown nuanced in places.
