Beautiful watercolor under Glass MOULIN A EAU signed P. COMMARMOND (1897 - 1983) - on the back handwritten by the artist: Better late than never!...In memory of a long holiday in Franconia Signed P.Commarmond 293 OFLAG XIII A - A pupil of Karl Cartier, he took classes at the Galland workshop. Then, working at Editions Moyeux, he organized tourist exhibitions in stations and produced numerous posters for the railways. Member of French Artists, the Salon of the French School and the Ecole de la Marine, he is a recognized artist who forges links with Laurencin, Brayer, Jouve, Rigaud, Montez in and Dunoyer de Segonzac. Mobilized a second time in 1939 and prisoner in Oflag XIII A, he staged several plays, for which he designed costumes and sets. On his return, he was hired as artistic director of Editions Chaix. From his numerous travels through France and Europe, he brought back endearing landscapes. Using gouache with predilection, he strives to represent nature with simple emotion and great concern for accuracy. The Marquise has some dirt (dust) because it has not been removed from its frame - with frame 32.2 x 27.5 cm - Watercolor 19.5 x 13.5 cm - Weight 0.780 kg
