Superb bowl or centerpiece by Andre Hunebelle in opalescent glass Buds model - Art Deco
Signed in the decor A. Hunebelle and on the edge: mod. Dept. From a. Hunebelle & r. Cogneville.
Opalescent polished and satin frosted glass.
Satin decorations of interlacing buds and foliage on an opalescent background.
Three decorative buds serve as bases.
Good used condition, despite a small chip around the edge (see close-up photo) and some minor marks of use.
André Hunebelle has an unusual destiny which for me contributes to the beauty of the piece:
In 1925, André Hunebelle obtained a position of responsibility in a semi-industrial glassworks in difficulty.
Embracing all aspects of this profession, he became a creator to relaunch the business.
His first works are still imbued with the floral and abundant Art Nouveau style but are becoming more refined and “geometric” while tending towards Art Deco.
Between 1927 and 1931, he published his glassworks which he distributed by opening a store on Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
In 1938 André Humbelle abandoned glassmaking in favor of Cinema.
He will be a director until the end of his career.
He made Audiard's debut as a dialogue writer.
He will have directed the greatest of his time like Jean Marrais.
Among more than 36 films, he notably shot Different Fantômas.
The Cup which bears witness to a bygone era is sublime and refined.
Assured crush
