History of the model:
The katana is a saber (a curved single-edged bladed weapon) measuring more than 60 cm1. By extension, the term katana is often used to designate all Japanese sabers (tachi, uchigatana, etc.).
Symbol of the samurai caste, the katana is a two-handed cutting (using the cutting edge) and thrusting (using the point) weapon. It is worn tucked into the belt, with the cutting edge pointing upwards at the belt on the left side (also downwards if the wearer is a rider). The wakizashi-katana set is called the daisho.
Total length: 99 cm
Length without the scabbard: 89.1 cm
Blade length: 69 cm
Length of the handle: 20.1 cm
Blade width: 2.8 cm

Superb Japanese saber called '' KATANA '', probably a non-commissioned officer to be verified. Probably dating from the Second World War (to be verified, this is not my area of collection). Beautiful steel blade, stamped with a number on the heel ''96341 '' on the blade, the scabbard is original with remains of period chrome, in its original juice plus other markings of the manufacturer on the ring of the handle. With its scabbard attachment system still functional! Blue paint slightly faded on the flowers engraved on the handle. Very beautiful and massive piece, to seize without reserve! Very pleasant to hold in the hands and even more to observe in the display case !!! Pieces recovered as war trophies by the Americans and later brought back to Europe, see photos in attachment!
