Pierre-Marie Poisson studied sculpture at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts from 1893 to 1896, where he trained in plastic arts and plaster work. He completed this teaching in the studio of Barrias in Paris. In 1907, he obtained a medal of honor at the Salon des Artistes Français and an allowance to reside at the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algiers where he designed and made the decorations. He returned there regularly until 1914. He was the author of a bust of Marianne in a stripped down and massive style, commissioned in 1932 by Jean Mistler, Under-Secretary of State for Fine Arts, to replace the official bust of Marianne by Jean-Antoine Injalbert.He collaborated with other artists in the production of sets for the liners France in 1912, Ile-de-France in 1927 and Normandy in 1935.He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1923.The Valsuani Foundry, then renamed Airaindor Valsuani or Fonderie de Chevreuse, is a French bronze art foundry, located in Chevreuse, closed in 2016.
