Small blown glass vase from the old Moorish Vieil glassworks
the production of “Verriers de Maure-Vieil” focused mainly on glass paste and work on stratified mineral textures, as close as possible to its direct environment.
The intriguing history of glassmaking fully contributes to the charm of the pieces that come from it.
Located on a natural cirque surrounded by wild nature, in the middle of the Caldera (south of France), Maure Vieil is made up of:
• a chapel with modernist and eccentric architecture
• but also a New Age fitness center.
• to which is added the glassware of Maure-vieil.
The Old Maure Glassworks was built in the 1960s.
It closed its doors in the 1990s, leaving a building abandoned since that day.
the vase is in very good condition, no cracks or chips
Produced in the 60s/70s, this piece is mainly made of black, with beige and orange marbling.
The latter resembles lava stains metaphorically recalling the furnace of its creative process.
It also recalls the mineral marbling specific to the work of master glassmaker Bob le Bleis.
The object has a lower part of shards which are not shards. This is about nose texture during the development of the piece.
The Maure Vieil stamp (interlaced M and V) is found sealed under the glassware.
High quality craftsmanship. Superb piece
I also have a collection of 7 pieces from the Maure Vieille workshops.
These pieces are visible in my other listings
