The magazine, founded in 1957 by airline pilot Pierre Chanoine-Martiel, is published quarterly. Each issue is generally devoted to an episode in the history of civil and military aviation, through testimonies or studies by specialists in the subject covered. The magazine has devoted several issues to the air aspect of the Battle of France (18 issues), to the Free French Air Force (9 issues), to the Normandie-Niemen squadron (6 issues) and to Saint-Exupéry (7 issues). The magazine was particularly marked by Jean Lasserre who was its editor-in-chief for a long time. François Rude succeeded him in this role.
