The German Democratic Republic (GDR); in German: Deutsche Demokratische Republik or DDR, sometimes translated as Democratic Republic of Germany or East Germany), is a former European communist state created on October 7, 1949 by the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, an ally of the USSR. The territory of the GDR corresponds to the area occupied by the Red Army.

DESCRIPTION :
Extremely rare and superb East German officer's saber from the GDR. These sabers were produced in the ''MULHAUSEN'' factory which has no longer produced them since 1991, the rest of the stock was sold at the fall of the USSR and the GDR in 1991. Superb chrome-plated blade, painted scabbard in black with opening for leather, leather filigree and silver metal. Superb saber in very good condition. One-ring scabbard covered in black paint, in superb condition. Symbolic of East Germany, fixed on the hilt. Very beautiful and rare piece, very pleasant to hold in the hand and even more pleasant to admire in the window! A sword in simply remarkable condition, worthy of a museum!
