The model 1854 saber is a French cavalry saber, for troops and officers. It was adopted in 1854 by the riflemen, and marked the return to the straight blade for heavy cavalry. It will then be adopted by the reserve cavalry, then by the dragoons

Superb massive and impressive French dragon or cuirassier saber, based on the 1854 model. Gilded brass mount. Four-pronged guard, simply sublime! Several hallmarks: ''49'' and ''959'' and ''959''. SCABBARD AND SABER WITH THE SAME NUMBER. Inscription visible on the edge ''LA MANUFACTURE DE CHATELLERAULT...''. Blade with two central gutters, quite long and massive, slat type. No play, watermark missing and leather tie in place! Two-ring scabbard in good condition. The sword is in good condition, in its original state with traces of age, 100% original and pure vintage! ! !
