Grenadier Officer's Saber 1780 - 1800

Gilded brass frame with a wooden spindle covered with sheepskin, tied to thirteen turns with a double filigree of twisted brass wire

Long-tailed cap with three sides on the drop of the guard, united joint arch, guard plate made of a flaming grenade.

70 cm half-curved Montmorency-style blade with two hollow sides and two gutters near the back.

The blade is marked MR surrounded by dots for the Royal Manufacture of Klingenthal, the deputy director was de CABANNES Lieutenant Colonel in 1791 which "perhaps" makes this saber one of the last produced under LOUIS XVI

Original scabbard in black leather with two gilded brass fittings, embellished by a button cap cut into a brace with hanging ring and a long button.

Red present tie

Saber length 84 cm and 84.5 cm with scabbard
