The axe was not just a parade weapon for German firefighters. In firefighting gear, it is worn in a black leather that encloses its iron, suspended on the left side by a wide strap attached to the belt by a loop. The iron of the parade axe, whose general shape is identical to the work axe, is however contoured and etched. Its handle is rounded and finished with a nickel-plated rivet. A plaque nailed to the handle is intended for dedications. Two bail rings are attached to the handle, under the iron.
