The sabre model 1822 is a French cavalry sabre, for the troops and officers. It was introduced on January 18, 1822 by the cavalry committee, replacing all previous models: An IX, An XI, 1816, and 1817 for the light cavalry, and An XI, An XIII, and 1816 for the heavy cavalry.
