HISTORICAL CONTEXT:
A bayonet is a bladed weapon designed to fit the barrel of a rifle or similar weapon and intended for close combat in the manner of a lance. It thus makes the bayonet rifle a versatile weapon, which then becomes a hybrid between a firearm and a polearm. It became established in Western armies from the 18th century, gradually replacing pikes and then halberds, which it made obsolete.

Very beautiful American socket dagger/bayonet for Enfield M1853. The bayonet has the markings '' 64 B C '' + other markings ... The piece is in good condition, in its original tan with traces due to time, to be cleaned. With its fixing system, perfectly functional. A bayonet that was probably used during the campaigns of the 19th century. Very beautiful bayonet, totally homogeneous, in its original juice with its original scabbard also in its juice. Very pleasant to hold and just magnificent when displayed in a showcase, a real nugget! Really very rare in this condition !!! Very rare and 100% original !!!
