Pair of wine carafes in Saint Louis or Baccarat crystal, Caton model.
A strong crystal model dating from the second half of the 19th century, Caton was initially produced by both Baccarat and St Louis, which then shared a single catalog.
Later, we find the model in the Baccarat tableware catalog of 1907, and in the St Louis catalogs of the 20th century under the name Caton.
It has survived the centuries without going out of fashion. This cut crystal model is today one of the great classics of St Louis crystal making.
St Louis has maintained the production and marketing of this range: glasses, carafes, knife holders, bowls. have ultimately been in catalogs for over 100 years (current price for this new carafe: €515).
Old production from the 19th century, the decanters that we sell here do not bear any stamp: it was only from 1936 that the crystal factories replaced the label serving as a signature, which disappeared after a few washes, with the famous stamp acid etched.
Please note that the caps respectively have a chip (visible in the photo). The chip being on the lower part of the cap, it remains very barely visible.
Sale of an inseparable lot.
