My Père Lachaise Shop.... beautiful for all. Pair of chairs from the manufacturer TURPE (Saxony, Germany) Ca .1890…1900. Here is a pair of No. 18, caned, this model created by Thonet in 1880 was reproduced throughout Europe from 1890, with here a remarkable arch of the rear legs. The front legs also offer even more curve than the Thonet chairs of the same period. The German brand Turpe from Dresden supplied bentwood between 1870 and 1918 to annexed Alsace. The TURPE chairs of remarkable workmanship and design are still very present in the homes of our region. The canes are all six-thread, recent in perfect condition.
