They bear the signature Rihouet rue de la Paix and JP inside the base. These are exceptional, large, spectacular pieces. Jacob Mardochée (1797-1868), better known by his pseudonym Jacob Petit, which he took in 1816, is an eminent figure on the French artistic scene in the field of ornamental porcelain. He was trained in the studio of the painter Antoine Gros, a pupil of David, then took over the management of the Fontainebleau porcelain factory before devoting himself entirely to ornamental porcelain. If he did not have the expected success during his lifetime, he is to this day very popular with collectors because of the quality of his creations and the originality of the shapes. Louis Marie François Rihouët was born in 1791. He began his activity in 1818 and in 1824 obtained the title of faïencier du Roi. It was on this date that he transferred his establishment to 7, rue de la Paix. The porcelain bearing the name Rihouët in full, with or without address, is very meticulously made. These are mostly table services, with a number or coat of arms, because Rihouët had a chosen and wealthy clientele among which the King of Portugal.
