Pair of bronze elephant bookends signed Carvin marble bases M3300 These bookends were made by Louis-Albert Carvin, they bear the signature "Etling Paris" which is the publisher of the bronze. Elephant tusks are made of horn. Louis Albert Carvin (1875-1951) is a French sculptor. Specializing in animal sculpture, he takes as models deer, does, lions, lionesses, panthers, birds, wolf dogs... The limited company Edmond Etling was founded in Paris, France in 1909. Edmond Etling played an important role in the development of the Art Deco style and he had the vision and ability to promote and respond to a long list of notable designers of the decorative arts in the 1920s-1930s.
