BRONZE ANTELOPES AREA BY IRENEE ROCHARD 1930 ART DECO ON MARBLE E723 This pair of antelopes is from the Art Deco period, 1930, it is in bronze. It was directed by Irénée Rochard. It bears the Irénée Rochard Bronze signature. The antelopes are very nervous, angular, typical of the 1930s. Irénée Félix René Rochard (1906-1984) is a French ornamental sculptor known for his representations of animals in the Art Nouveau style. Mostly working in bronze, he creates many figurines in marble, ceramic or wood. Rochard is fascinated by animals and creates sculptures inspired by his meticulous observation. Unfortunately, a restoration is visible on the cracked, uneven marble, note friction and micro-scratches from use. Everything remains in a very decent state of preservation.
