Pair of bookends by Max Le Verrier Art deco squirrels 1930 H5088Here is the famous pair of bookends made by Max Le Verrier in the 1930s. This is the largest and most demonstrative model. It's squirrels are stinging to perfection with a pretty bronze patina of chocolate origin on a supporting black marble. We find the Max Le Verrier signature on the bottom. Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier (1891-1973), more commonly known as Max Le Verrier, also known by the pseudonym of Artus was a French sculptor. He was known to be a pioneer within the Parisian Art Deco movement, creating decorative art objects often made in bronze as well as historical sculptures. These bookends are in good general condition, we point out, for the most picky, minimal chips on the marble and some traces of wear and some classic scratches.
