Description
Gabriel-Charles Deneux entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he was a student of Jean-Léon Gérôme and Alexandre Cabanel. He exhibited at the Salon from 1880. A member of the Salon d'Hiver and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, he is responsible for many portraits (Madame Nina Pack, of the Opera, Mlle Alice Berthier, of the Variétés) as well as pictorial works (Le Pardon de Notre-Dame de la Clarté, Le Feu du Pardon, Salammbô or even encaustic murals at the École Coloniale, the Palais d'Hiver in Algiers, the church of Tlemcen and, among others, the Hôtel du Comte d'Aulan
