Student of the painter Tony Robert-Fleury and of the sculptor and medalist Hippolyte Jules Lefèbvre Amédée Buffet is the younger brother of the abbot and orientalist painter Paul Buffet. He exhibited in 1894 at the Salon des artistes Français and obtained a medal there that year. honor then a 2nd class medal in 1899, the year he passed out of competition. He then became a member of the jury of the Society of French Artists. In 1903, he received, with his brother Paul, a commission from the Carthusians to create four paintings to replace those by Goya destroyed at the Carthusian monastery of Aula Dei in Zaragoza, Spain.
