From Burma, I offer you this beautiful string puppet representing the alchemist, the learned court doctor....

This character is one of the recurring characters of Burmese puppet theater.

The face has a superb “complexion”

articulated mouth

hands and mouth are fully articulated.

Material: Wood and red fabric costume with sequins, red headdress..

This puppet dates from the 1910s, very beautiful and large piece for experienced collectors....

It has a little wear at the top of the hat but wear from normal use, given its great age!!! (but hanging on the wall it absolutely does not happen!!!), it is from the period and not a reproduction... It is an antique!!!
