OIL ON PANEL BY FRANS MASEREEL MAZEREEL1944 CHILD ATTABLE FRAME CERUSE A4550Here is a work by Frans Masereel, we find his characteristic technique. It represents a child seated whose hands are placed on a table. We find the palette of Frans Masereel. There is a "FM" signature, it is the monogram of Frans Masereel, also a dedication on the back "For Simone and Roger Thomas". Frans Masereel is a Belgian engraver, painter and illustrator born on July 30 or 31, 1889 in Blankenberge and died on January 3, 1972 in Avignon. He mainly worked between Switzerland, Germany and France. Author of a profuse work, tireless illustrator, pedagogue, his best-known graphic work is undoubtedly My Book of Hours (1919): he is considered as the precursor of the graphic novel. The backing is cardboard. The frame is original, it is a ceruse frame, typical of 1944. Note some cracks and small losses (see photos). The work has been very well preserved over time, we report slight friction on the elbows and in the hair. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom.
