OIL ON CANVAS SUMMER MORNING IN PROVENCE PROBABLY PIERRE MAGNAN BERNARD UNSIGNED A4861 This oil on canvas represents a morning in Provence with three shepherds. In the background we can see a mountainous landscape. Born in 1880 in Draguignan, Pierre Magnan-Bernard moved to Paris to devote himself to painting. He was a pupil of Gabriel Ferrier and François Flameng at the Académie Julian, and also frequented the studio of Jean-Léon Gérôme. Member of the Society of French Artists, he received a Gold medal at the Salon of 1928, and the Rougé prize the following year. The coasts of Provence, but also the wild landscapes of the island of Bréhat, had nourished the inspiration of Magnan-Bernard. In line with the great classical masters, the painter distinguished himself with Virgilian compositions, populating an untamed nature with bathers, naiads and shepherds. This taste for the antique was also reflected in bacchanalia The work is not signed I could not confirm that the painter is Pierre Magnan Bernard, but this painting is of quality, the touch is good. It has a ceruse stucco frame that goes perfectly with this canvas. We report for the most picky minimal cracks and lack of paint, a small hole on the trunk of the tree on the left. Note small shocks and gaps in each corner of the frame. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the State thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions:- Frame Height: 48.5 cm Thickness: 8 cm Width: 66.2 cm- Painting Height: 37.4 cm Width: 54 cm S: 3S3JFZ1SP: 1056458 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
