To be identified Annie Hurel-Proszynska ( 1924-2008) Born: 1924-01-22, Nogent-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) Death: 2008-06, Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) Annie Hurel-Proszynska Born in Nogent-sur-Marne in 1924, Annie Proszynska lived in Nice from 1964 to 2008, the date of her death.After a stint at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the artist turned to painting, then engraving. She began with a student of Hayter before training with Jacques Hallez in Lumigny. In the 1950s, she participated in group exhibitions at the Hamon gallery in Le Havre, then presented her paintings at the Salon d'Automne. However, it is engraving that is close to her heart. In the 1970s, she turned definitively to this discipline and affirmed her taste for work on copper and large formats. Personal exhibitions are devoted to her at Michel Kieffer's in Paris and in Nice at Jacques Matarasso. She publishes in close collaboration with writers whom she has come close to small editions for bibliophiles.In her engravings often inspired by the Mediterranean or Antiquity, often very colorful, she plays with overprinting cut-out shapes, sketched silhouettes and flat areas enhanced by powerful ideograms.
