OIL ON CANVAS BY LOUIS GARIN L'ILE AUX MOINES KNIFE PAINTING 1930 FARM LANDSCAPE C4101 This oil on canvas was made by Louis Garin, it is in a rather decent state of conservation, if you accept the various small cracks. She is nature, juice. It represents the island of monks, have seen two farmers digging. A probably identifiable house and an identifiable hamlet too. This work is therefore unrestored, small dents. It is natural, untouched, however you will notice that the frame is posterior. It was probably redone in the 80s. Note some small lack of paint in places. Louis Garin was born June 23, 1888 in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) and died October 13, 1959 in Val-d'Izé (Ille-et-Vilaine) is a French artist and illustrator. Louis Garin was born into a modest family whose father was a railway worker. He worked with his father at the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Ouest until 1935. He enrolled in evening classes at the regional school of fine arts in Rennes. Louis Garin marries and becomes a father. He paints in his spare time and during his holidays. Illustrator and painter of landscapes and lyrical subjects, he is renowned for painting only the Breton region. In 1922, he exhibited at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts.
