OIL ON CANVAS BY JACQUES WEISMANN YOUNG BRETON KNITTED XXTH A4509 This oil on canvas was produced by Jacques Weismann, it represents a young Breton knitting. Everything was executed with precision and quality, we can admire in particular the rendering of the ball of wool and the face. We are faced with a work of quality. Interior scenes are very popular. The frame is original, it is in carved wood with beautiful gilding. Jacques Weismann, born Jacques Auguste Weismann (1878-1962) was a French painter, pastellist, illustrator and sculptor. From 1905, he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français, from which he won the silver medal in 1923 and the gold medal in 1932. Among his best-known works, the portraits of Marechal Foch painted in 1921, exhibited at the Palais of Luxembourg, that of General Gouraud as well as those of stars of the song of the time such as Tino Rossi whose portrait he exhibited in 1937 and that of Jeanne Aubert in 1939. The work has not been restored, nor cleaned, but it is in a rather good condition, however, we report slight friction and micro-scratches, cracks, black dots at the top and bottom right which are extra thick. We report a wear of gilding and small gaps on the frame. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions:- Frame: Height: 63.5 cm Thickness: 5.7 cm Width: 55.5 cm- Painting: Height: 44.5 cm Width: 36.5 cm D: 956471 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
