OIL ON CANVAS PORTRAIT XIX EME FEMME A LA FLEUR BY JACQUES CHANTRON H3192 This oil is late 19th, it is on canvas. It bears the signature AJ Chantron. As you can see it is unfortunately damaged, it is sold as is, no restored, with several significant paint gaps, detachments.The chassis is old, it is locked.The technique is good, the expression is interesting especially in the face.Beware this work must be accepted with the defects due to the age, our many photos speak for themselves, thank you for detailing the 12 photos.Alexandre-Jacques Chantron born in Nantes on January 28, 1842 and died in the same city on January 3, 1918 is a painter, pastellist and French photographer. Born January 28, 1842 in Nantes, Alexandre-Jacques Chantron studied with François-Édouard Picot, William Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury at the École des beaux-arts in Paris. His early works consist mainly of portraits and still lifes. Later, he painted nudes in the line of Bouguereau, a theme he continued to develop while experimenting with the new medium of photography.He first participated in the Salon of French artists in 1877 with a religious subject and obtained an honorable mention in 1893. He presented Spring Flowers at the Salon of 1895 before first obtaining a 3rd class medal in 1899, then a 2nd class medal in 1902 for his painting Feuilles Mortes !, a composition with symbolist accents .Alexandre-Jacques Chantron died on January 3, 1918 in Nantes, city where he had practiced almost all his life.Sold as presented.For the state thank you for detailing the photos.The photos are an integral part of the description.Dimensions: Height: 55.5 cm Width: 48.3 cm Thickness: 2.2 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
