OIL ON CANVAS BY FRANÇOIS BERAUD YEARS 30 YOUNG MEN ST HILAIRE DU TOUVET A4126 This oil on canvas was produced by François Béraud French painter in the 1930s / 1940s. Passionate about the landscapes of La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré in his youth , François Béraud then turned to still lifes and genre scenes, before finding fullness in the views of the Sèvre Niortaise or the trawlers of La Rochelle. Almost fawn, his painting bursts into touches of bright colors, carefully arranged or, on the contrary, brightly brushed. At only 39 years old, his fragile health betrayed him as he reached his artistic maturity. He leaves a significant number of oils on canvas, watercolors and drawings which today allow us a good understanding of the artistic journey of this man, intimately linked to his biography. The front representing two young men, denotes the influence of the painter René Morère (1907-1942) encountered in the years 1937/1938. The figure on the left with a green jacket represents the painter himself. The back is the village of Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet in Isère where the painter was in the student sanatorium in 1935/1936 During the occupation the painter occupied several workshops on rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Paris, which explains the inscription in pencil on the frame. The oil returned in good condition some friction and wear, it remains in a more than acceptable condition. It is sold unframed. Sold cleaned as is. For the state thank you for detailing the photos.
