JAPAN MASK XIXTH EDO PERIOD NAMEPLATE M772Here is a very beautiful mask from Japan, probably from the Edo period without certainty, 1830-1850. This mask could either be a Noh theater mask or more likely given its size was it used as a nameplate (as currently for our mailboxes). These masks were executed in the effigy of the master of the place. In each city and village of Japan a craftsman was specialized in their creation. This one is particularly expressive. For the state, we report friction, wear on the polychromy, lack of stucco especially on the bottom of the face and at the top of the mask, lack on the horsehair, all visible in the photos. However, this mask remains in good general condition. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. Sold untouched. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: 12.4 cm Width: 10.2 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
