JAPAN MASK XIXTH EDO PERIOD NAMEPLATE M768Here is a very beautiful mask from Japan, probably from the Edo period without certainty, 1830-1850. The polychromy is original. This mask can either be a Noh theater mask or was it used as a nameplate (as currently for our mailboxes). These masks were executed in the effigy of the master of the place. In each city and village of Japan a craftsman was specialized in their creation. This one is particularly expressive. The polychromy is original. You will notice that this mask has not been touched, it is nature. For the state, we report friction, wear on the polychrome, lack of stucco, paint, a crack crossing on the chin, which seems to be a regluing of a small piece at the back near the screw of grip. However, this mask remains in good general condition. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. Sold untouched. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: 18 cm Width: 14.9 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
