This signed painting (bottom right) represents a monohull sailboat, with all sails inflated, returning to a destination (right center) which is reminiscent of an imaginary and unfaithful representation of Mont Saint Michel.
The atmosphere of the painting with light colors (gold, orange and yellow) at the top and dark colors (black, glowing, brown) at the bottom directs us towards the end of the day, by calm sea. The boat reflecting on the sea like a wave caused by the movement of the boat.
The boat is rather well highlighted with fairly precise details and the movement of the sails which naturally indicate to us the destination – this set of houses on a rocky promontory.
We have not been able to identify the signing painter.
The painting seems to be lacquered and can also be similar to paintings of Asian influence.
The originality of the whole also lies in the double-thickness frame with a black background and a gold border which matches the colors of the painting itself. The effect of thickness gives the whole thing a particular and modern touch. Note that the thickness of the painted part is less than the thickness of the external frame.
