The Division General: This rank was created in 1621 under the name of lieutenant-general. Until 1914, it was the highest rank in the hierarchy. It allows access to the functions of army corps and army commander.

Guard decorated with floral ornaments, laurel leaves and flags, guard with a movable branch, perfectly functional, with three General's stars (one missing), with remains of its superb original gilding. Markings on the blade at the heel: '' S '' with an inscription '' A CH***POT ENTREPRENEUR A CHATELLERAULT ''. Full filigree on horn handle. A magnificent and very rare piece in its own juice, in very good condition, to be seized by any informed collector passionate about the French sword. Scabbard with one ring. Brilliant triangular blade, with traces due to time. Very pleasant to hold in the hands and to observe in the display case! Splendid piece, totally original!
