HISTORICAL CONTEXT :



The Bavarian army was the army of the duchy, then of the kingdom of Bavaria. It was integrated into the German army (Deutsches Heer) after 1870. It kept its own unit names until the First World War.

Magnificent Bavarian officer's saber in superb condition, in its original condition. Wooden handle covered with shagreen. Very beautiful blade, still shiny, with two gutters, engraved on both sides with the Bavarian motto: ''IN TREUE FEST'' (My unshakeable loyalty" in French), in its juice still shiny, presence of ''FLORAL DECORS'' with the motto, same engravings on both sides of the blade. Officer's monogram present on the top of the cap: ''M.S.'' as well as the number ''3'' on the heel on the guard. Marking of the manufacturer on heel: ''WK & C''. Scabbard with one ring covered with black paint, in its original form also with the strap of a Prussian saber. Very beautiful and rare piece, very pleasant to hold in the hand and even more so to admire it in its collector's window! A saber in its original state in very good condition to be seized!
