LITHOGRAPHY COUNTERSIGNED WIFREDO LAM NUMBERED 5 OF 300 ANIMALS COMPOSITION 1960 A4345Lithography countersigned by Wifredo LAM. It is a modern composition, a work of the years 1950-1960. A countersigned lithograph bearing the number 5/300. We note some rubbing on the lithograph, foxing on the margin and a few on the work, however it remains in decent general condition. Note that the protective glass is missing and some rubbing and stains on the metal frame. We have carried out a basic cleaning. Wifredo Óscar de la Concepción Lam y Castilla, known as Wifredo Lam, was born on December 8, 1902 in Sagua La Grande (Cuba) and died on September 11, 1982 in Boulogne-Billancourt Cuban painter, promoter of a mixed painting combining Western modernism and African symbols and Caribbean thus creating a singular and contemporary language. Close to Picasso, to the surrealists who recognize him as one of their own, he also rubbed shoulders with the Imaginists, Phases, CoBrA. "Lam is also the soul of this time in its fight for justice, for the liberation of realities for a long oppressed" Lam continues the same fight as the Martinican poet Aimé Césaire, "to paint the drama of his country, the cause and the spirit of the Blacks. He invented a language of his own, unique and original, to "defend the dignity of life." For the state thank you for detailing the photos. The photos are an integral part of the description.
