Albert Marquet is a French painter and designer born March 27, 1875 in Bordeaux and died June 14, 1947 in Paris. Coming from a modest background, he was encouraged by his mother to train in Paris, where he particularly bonded with Henri Matisse. Solidarity with the Fauve movement, he hardly let himself be influenced by the other currents of Post-Impressionism and, from the 1910s, met with a success which enabled him to live comfortably from his art.
