Louis Suire (1899-1987) was a French painter and publisher. The Ile de Ré serving as inspiration for the abundant work of the painter. Suire became a publisher by creating the house La Rose des Vents mainly dedicated to regionalism illustrated by his own hands. Suire's paintings were often used as a motif for postcards. It is also thanks to this medium that the very special color that Suire gave to his paintings and thus to the image of the Ile de Ré still spreads today. His vision of the light of the region and of the architectural and landscape simplicity of the island are the most current ambassadors for all the people of Charente.
