Description

Lithograph under frame "Would you like some matches?" part of the series "Cries of London" after the works of the English painter Francis Wheatley, from the 18th century.
This series of 14 paintings depicts street vendors. 13 of them have been reproduced and engraved in various colors.
Here we will notice the blue wheelwright petticoat worn by the young merchant, which stands out particularly, with a reminder on the ribbon that holds her hat. She is accompanied by a little boy and a dog. This little terrier appears in several of these representations. In the background we see a carriage and the pillars of the monuments of the London market.
This pretty little print, a reproduction of this famous series, the most successful of the painter, will give a charming cachet to your decoration.
It will deserve another frame in order to highlight it more. Reproduction of plate No. 4 "Do you want any matches?" from the dotted engravings of Anthony Cardon from 1794 and the work of the British painter Francis Wheatley (1747-1801) famous for his rustic and anecdotal scenes, portraits and landscapes.

Please read the details of the item below and view the photos. There may be a slight difference in tone compared to the original object and the photos illustrating it here (the color of the paper in particular is a little more yellow in reality)
