An exceptionally refined liqueur service, dating from the late 1950s, designed for 6 people by the famous Hartzviller crystal factory, located in Lorraine.
*
This period marks a pivotal moment for the crystal factory, which was then booming. It offered luxurious pieces intended for tableware, highly prized by both a demanding private clientele and the most prestigious establishments such as the Ritz, the George V, the Crillon, Maxim’s and La Tour d’Argent. This was Hartzviller’s golden age, a time when it combined traditional craftsmanship and modern design to create collections of great distinction.
*
This service consists of a carafe and conical glasses, made using a technique called “iridescent lustre”, which is part of an Art Deco aesthetic. The set exudes sophisticated elegance thanks to its captivating hues: reddish shades evolving towards a garnet red, enhanced by a subtly iridescent pastel green. The feet of the glasses, the neck of the carafe and its stopper are delicately gilded with gold. The glass, mouth-blown and hand-shaped, illustrates remarkable craftsmanship.
*
A gold label bearing the motif of the double cross, called “Croix d’Anjou”, decorated with two thistles symbolizing Lorraine, authenticates this exceptional object. In addition, the number 54 engraved under the carafe and its stopper confirms its belonging to a high-end collection.
*
In perfect condition, without chips or cracks, this service is of great finesse in its manufacture and its exceptional state of conservation. It embodies both elegance, French craftsmanship and the art of living of the 1950s, while paying tribute to Lorraine's heritage.
