LARGE OIL ON CANVAS BY ALFRED GODCHAUX 1839 1907 UNRESTORED MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE M157 This oil on canvas was made by Alfred Godchaux, a renowned artist. Alfred Godchaux born January 24, 1839 in Paris (former 1st arrondissement) and died in Reims May 3, 1907 is a French painter. Alfred Godchaux was born in Paris on the Île de la Cité on January 24, 1839. He lived in Pau and Orléans. A student of Régis François Gignoux, he is probably related to Émile Godchaux, whose father he is perhaps. Both artists favor similar subjects, although Alfred Godchaux's work focuses more on views of Constantinople, Italy, Venice and Brittany. There remains a risk of confusion between the two artists. His sons Eugène (1878-1956) and Henri Godchaux (1881-1919) were also painters. It has a fun funny frame with marquetry work. This work is however in a very poor condition, it requires restoration, tears, lack of paint, cracked. Wear and friction, scratches, cracks, gaps on the frame. It is sold uncleaned to restore perfect for a dealer or restorer. For the condition, please detail the photos. The photos are an integral part of the description.
