Origin. Burkina Faso, 1960s - The Mossi live mainly in Burkina Faso, but also in certain border regions of surrounding countries, such as Ghana, Ivory Coast. It is the members of the Blacksmiths Society who sculpt and wear the masks. The Mossi are the descendants of conquering riders who came from Ghana in the 15th century, the famous Mossi riders. They are good warriors, fought so that their territories would never be conquered.
